The Daruj kelímek (Donate the Cup) charity collection began on 14 November, alongside the opening of the Christmas markets in Brno, and lasted until 23 December. Donations could be made at five stands operated at the expense of the Brno-střed municipal district, with a refundable deposit of CZK 50 per cup. The final amount exceeded the 2024 record by almost CZK 600,000. The full amount will now be given to non-profit organisations. “We are very happy with the result and would like to thank all the donors for their support. It shows that even a small amount can make a big difference,” said Ondřej Šibřina, director of the Daruj kelímek (Donate the Cup) association.
Visitors to the markets donated the most money to the Vodicí pes (Guide Dog) association, which received almost CZK 700,000. Second place went to the Kryšpín Charity Cat association, which received over CZK 600,000. Third place went to the Krtek Endowment Fund. People donated over half a million crowns to this organisation, which is dedicated to helping children with cancer. The Brno-střed district, the main organiser of the Christmas markets in Brno, has supported the Daruj kelímek (Donate the Cup) project from the beginning and helped a total of 60 non-profit organisations this year. It provided them with free stands at the Jošt Statue on the Moravian Square (Moravské náměstí) and Cabbage Market (Zelný trh). One of these organisations was the Emil Foundation, which received record support from donors this year. The amount collected exceeded 2 million crowns.
