Stars are coming to Christmas Brno

An exceptionally attractive cultural programme awaits Christmas Brno visitors. Dozens of musical concerts will take place at the Vegetable Market, featuring leading domestic musicians and representatives of the local club scene. All of the performances have been organised thanks to record revenues from a public auction. Christmas Brno, organised by the Brno-střed district and located at the Vegetable Market and Moravian Square, starts on 15 November. The opening ceremony will be performed by the popular singer and presenter Leoš Mareš,
who will perform at the Vegetable Market at 19:00.

“We put a lot of effort into preparing the cultural programme and I am glad that we managed to attract well-known performers to the Christmas market. We worked closely with the vendors to put together the programme. All the concerts are paid for by the proceeds of the public auction in which we auctioned off stall places for food and drink vendors. The proceeds were just under 21 million crowns, which is 10 million more than last year. We made a commitment to the vendors in advance that we would invest all the money raised back into Christmas,” said Ludmila Oulehlová (ANO), First Deputy Mayor of the Brno-střed district, whose responsibility includes the area of business development. The Leoš Mareš concert is not the only attraction that Christmas Brno will offer. The historic square will be abuzz with songs by singers such as Monika Bagárová and Lenny. The audience will also hear Lipo, the band Jasná Páka with David Koller and many others. Traditionally, the local club scene and children from kindergartens and primary schools will also take to the stage.

“I am delighted that we have managed to significantly improve the cultural programme while maintaining traditional Christmas values. Once again, almost half of the places at the Vegetable Market are occupied by craftsmen and bearers of folk traditions, who pay a reduced rent. At the Jobst statue at Moravian Square, we provide free stalls to up to 60 non-profit organisations. We also devoted a large space in the programme to families with children. In addition, many activities and attractions are free of charge,” added Deputy Mayor Ludmila Oulehlová.
